About

Hi, I’m Adam Searle and I’m an interactive developer based in Sydney. Depending on the day, I play the role of a Flash freelance developer, games programmer or university lecturer. Currently I’m on a 6 month research break, going “back to the lab” to delve into exciting new interactive technologies.

I graduated from UNSW CoFA with a degree in Digital Media in 2005. My proudest moment out of University was the launch of an online game I developed with two colleagues - Ninjaman. Since its release it has seen over 30 million plays globally, and while we never angled it for profit, it spurred me on to move forward as a games developer.

After working primarily as a freelance developer, in 2006 myself along with two others created of Subversive Games - a “casual games” development studio. Subversive has gone from strength to strength, having produced online games, corporate training games, and recently CD-based games printing over 80,000 copies. As lead developer and technical officer, it has been a fun transition into a game development focused career!

Missing the university lifestyle somewhat, in 2006 I began teaching at CoFA as a casual tutor, in Flash design and development. In 2007 I was given the chance to grow this into a more development-centric role, both as a tutor and lecturer. Teaching for me has been a very satisfying experience; while my students may dread presenting their projects, I simply love it!

Right now I’m on a research break, which is giving me time to invest in learning ‘new stuff’. New flash developments, back-end programming and project management are all on the cards. Drop by my blog for more later!
